Who are we ?
FLY-R was created in 2013 by three engineers with 45 years of cumulative experience in the design, development, testing and qualification of fixed wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), for both civilian and defence applications.
Our company, located on Reunion Island (France), is specialized in the design, development and manufacturing of UAVs using composite fixed-wing aircraft from 1.5 meters up to 6 meters in wing span.
FLY-R employee’s skills and the high quality and diversity of our technological research projects have earned us the support of the “Réunion Technopole” and drew the attention of the aerospace industry.

Our expertise
Our dynamic team of specialized technicians and engineers goes beyond traditional aeronautical designs to create unique and innovative aircraft. They have developed and validated a unique rhomboidal wing aircraft concept. FLY-R is one of the very few companies in the world that masters this specific aerodynamic formula, which has many technical and economic advantages.
Thanks to the company’s relatively small size and flexible structure, we are able to provide solutions tailored to the needs of our international customers, and to offer products of high technological value at attractive costs.
FLY-R expertise goes from aerodynamic design to serial production, through structural design, validation reports and flight tests.
Every step of these activities is carried out taking into account the applicable regulations and safety standards that are required for flight clearances of the system.
Our professionalism and the quality of our products have also enabled us to obtain the ISO 9001 certification as well as the aeronautical, aerospace and defence certification EN/AS/JISQ 9100.
FLY-R is one of the first European drone manufacturing companies to obtain these internationally recognized certifications.
Our facilities
Equipped with state-of-the-art computer hardware and software, and high quality tooling, our R&D and production facilities on Réunion Island have direct access to a 500 m paved runway.
The R&D facility of more than 500 m², houses offices and workshops as well as a fully equipped control station for real-time control during our aircraft flights. This space also allows for the manufacturing of our prototypes and, if needed, limited production for small or specific orders.
The R&D centre is completely energy self-sufficient thanks to the electricity generated by solar panels.
It is strategically located on the Cambaie Aeronautical Cluster in Saint-Paul (Réunion Island) whose tropical climate allows flight testing almost all year long.
Patents
FLY-R’s technological innovations have led to the award of 2 international patents, related to the VTOL system for a rhomboidal wing and the rhomboidal wing system with variable geometry, the latter making the R2-120 RAIJIN a unique solution.
