The rhomboidal wing

A rhomboidal wing is part of the closed-wing family. It is characterized by the shape of diamond on the 3 axis and the absence of a vertical control surface.

The advantages of this wing over a conventional wing (cantilever) of similar performances are:

  • wingspan reduced by about half;

  • reduced aerodynamic drag;

  • structural mass decreased by one-third;

  • wide range of speed;

  • high and relatively constant lift/drag ratio;

  • high maneuverability.

RHOMBOIDAL WING,
THE FUTURE OF FLYING

The rhomboidal wing offers the aviation industry a disruptive technology thanks to its outstanding performance. In particular, the reduction of mass allows a significant energy savings. The rhomboidal wing is considered as one of the best solutions for the aircraft of the future, which must be environmentally sustainable and cost effective.

To meet these expectations, in parallel with our UAV activities, we have also designed a hybrid rhomboidal aircraft for cargo and passenger transportation called the “Crystal CR-1200'', which already meets the needs of tomorrow.
